Khon, Thailand's masked dance-drama, is inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Based on the Ramakien — the Thai interpretation of the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana — this narrative masked play meets Korean audiences at the World Traditional Opera Festival. Presented by the Fine Arts Department of Thailand work is an elegant, multila yered performing art that integrates theater and music with painting, sculpture, and craft. Across four scenes — 〈The Beginning〉, 〈The Abduction of Sita〉, 〈The Battle of Rama and Tosakan〉, and 〈The Return to Ayodhya〉—it traces the conflict and journey of Rama and Tosakan. The stage offers a chance to experience the overwhelming beauty unique to Khon, once performed at the most important royal ceremonies.
