This acclaimed production reimagines Shakespeare's classic 〈Hamlet〉 as Peking opera, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Beginning with an invitation to Denmark's 'Hamlet Summer Theatre Festival' in 2005, the production has toured extensively worldwide. It has garnered widespread international acclaim, notably winning the prestigious 'Herald Angel Award' at the 65th Edinburgh International Festival in 2011. Transporting the original's setting to the ancient Chinese city of 'Chicheng', the production draws on the singing and recitation of traditional Peking opera, along with its distinctive movement and artistry, to weave Western narrative and Eastern sensibility together in a strikingly original way. It promises to be a profound opportunity to experience the unique aesthetics and expressive power of traditional Peking opera.
