What’s On
“Four Is One, and the Act of Living”
SANGJARU and Ahn Ye-Eun—artists who have walked two very different musical paths, one in gugak and the other in popular music—come together at Yeowoorak. Ahn Ye-Eun, whose distinct musical identity is often described as a genre in itself, joins forces with SANGJARU, known for presenting free-spirited and innovative Korean contemporary music, to reflect on the idea that “4 is 1 = the act of living”, only in terms of homonym. Centered on newly created works, this performance unfolds like a narrative guided by the theme of “death.” While death is often associated only with sorrow and farewell, in traditional Korean funeral culture, it can also become a festive send-off where honoring a life continues through laughter and song. On stage, four performers come together as a single ensemble, delicately exploring the boundaries between life and death, this world and the next, laughter and tears. They invite the audience into an experience that feels less like reality and more like being part of a vibrant, otherworldly celebration.
