9 Teams of Young Musicians Presenting the Folk Songs of Our Time, Now
The closing performance of the 2025 Yeowoorak Festival, "Paldominyo Daejeon", is a stage where nine teams of young musicians unfold the folk songs of the present day, based on the traditional music of Korea’s eight provinces. The sounds from Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Gangwon, Gyeongsang, Pyeongan, Hwanghae, Hamgyeong, Jeolla, and Jeju are reborn through the hands of young creators, creating a fresh flow that connects tradition and the present, as well as different regions and generations. Folk songs are no longer songs of the past. They are songs sung with today’s voices, alive and breathing. This stage is both the final chapter of the festival’s journey and the doorway to sound before returning to everyday life. As the audience travels back from the "strange folk song land," the sounds of each province, now infused with today’s sensibilities, flow into the audience’s tomorrow.
