Reviving the Golden Age of Female Ttaechang Minyo on the Small Screen
In the 1970s and 80s, numerous female Minyo (folk music) singers appeared on television and in popular culture, taking over the stage with the form of collective singing or "ttaechang." Much like today's girl idol groups, music programs brought together regional Minyo from all over the country, creating a shared experience with the public. However, over time, Minyo began to be performed separately by region and genre, making such collective performances rare today. In the summer of 2025, the vibrant era of Minyo will be revived on the Yeowoorak stage. Join the overwhelming harmony and ttaechang of 33 female folk singers, including Choi Su-jeong, Park Ae-ri, and Park Jun-gil, as they bring together Gyeonggi, Seodo, and Namdo Minyo. Relive the memories of that nostalgic time and experience a performance that brings back the dynamism and communal spirit of Minyo.
