Art in Series at the National Theater of Korea: Art in Everyday Life

Nestled at the foot of Namsan Mountain, the National Theater of Korea presents the “Art in” Series, inviting visitors to enjoy art, culture, and the beauty of seasons in their everyday lives. Going beyond simply watching a performance in a theater, the series offers opportunities to experience art through food, coffee, crafts, markets, nature, and meaningful encounters with people.

The Art in Series consists of four themed programs: Art in Goods, Art in Picnic, Art in Marché, and Art in Coffee. While each program focuses on a different theme, they all share a common purpose—to bring creators, producers, and visitors together and create opportunities for people to connect through culture.

[Art in Goods] 

Art in Goods is a creator market where visitors can discover new interests and explore their own personal tastes. From vintage treasures and beloved objects to newly created works, the market brings together a diverse range of items and creators. More than simply a place to buy and sell goods, it is a space where trends, traditions, and individual creativity come together.

[Art in Picnic]

Art in Picnic is a seasonal market inspired by nature and the changing seasons. In our increasingly urban lives, it can be easy to lose touch with the rhythm of nature. This market invites visitors to rediscover the beauty of the present season and imagine a more sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature. Set against the beautiful landscape of Namsan, visitors can enjoy a picnic-like experience as they walk, write, eat, and reconnect with the season.

[Art in Marché] 

Art in Marché celebrates the heartfelt work of farmers and the beauty of seasonal produce. Visitors can discover fresh ingredients and agricultural products alongside handmade crafts, live music performances, workshops, and conversations with farmers themselves. By bringing producers and visitors together, the market offers an opportunity to share stories about food, farming, and everyday life while nourishing both body and soul.

[Art in Coffee] 

Art in Coffee explores coffee as a medium for connecting people, places, and culture. Coffee roasteries from across Korea come together to introduce carefully selected beans and their own distinctive coffee cultures. Alongside coffee, visitors can discover food, crafts, and books that enrich the coffee experience. Here, coffee becomes more than a beverage—it becomes a form of everyday culture and an art that makes life more beautiful.

Through these four programs, the Art in Series at the National Theater of Korea brings art beyond the boundaries of traditional performance spaces and into everyday life.
