[Red (赤)-We all dance at the cliff]

* The Last Performance of Repertoire Season 2014-2015 of National Theater of Korea
* Creative Convergence of Genres by Artists in Film, and Fashion
* An Energetic Stage Performed by 5 Principal Dancers, the Power of Korean Dance
* The First Full-Length Choreography Performance by Principal Dancer Choi Jin-Wook of National Dance Company of Korea

Since the release of the repertoire season of National Theater of Korea, the National Dance Company of Korea has continued to show the performances in collaboration with various genres and preposterous attempts, showing the possibilities of Korean dance. Recently, Korean dance has become a genre that is most flexible in collaboration by performing modern works including [Dan (壇)] and [Mukhyang] directed by fashion designer Jung Ku-ho, [Whirlwind] choreographed by Finnish modern dancer Tero Saarinen and [Basic Application] musically joined by DJ Soulscape. This performance of National Dance Company of Korea is the grand finale of 2014-15 season themed with “art is the flower blooming in the boundaries.”

[Red (赤)] (subtitle: We all dance at the cliff) got the motif from Andersen’s cruel fairy tale 「Red Shoes」 about a girl who keeps dancing in unstoppable shoes even after her feet are cut. The story expresses the desire of a person who wants to keep dancing even if she knows that she will fall off from the brink of the cliff.

Choreographer Choi Jin-wook, director Im Pil-seong, music director Mowg and costume designer Park Seung-gun. Four men who are actively working in different fields of film and fashion joined together only for this performance.

First, principal dancer Choi Jin-wook of National Dance Company of Korea is getting expectations since he took charge of choreography for a full-length performance for the first time. He has developed his ability as a choreographer by working as an assistant choreographer in [Mukhyang] and [Tournament] and appearing on the stage as a charismatic and energetic principal dancer. Choi longed for making a performance to express the maximized human desire with dance so that he asked for help to a suitable film director Im Pil-seong. Im Pil-seong, the director of movie [Antarctic Journal] and [Scarlet Innocence] is one of the directors who carry through own personalities with perseverance among the flood of commercial films, and famous for containing ill-conceived human desire in his films every time. Im has paid attention to the National Dance Company of Korea through Jung Ku-ho, the costume designer of his recent movie [Scarlet Innocence] and is giving a challenge to have the title of stage producer as well as film director with this performance. Im encouraged music director Mowg of movie [Silenced ] and [Masquerade] and fashion designer Park Seung-gun of fashion brand pushBUTTON. The artists who were craved for creative works decided to team up. The artists actively working in different fields with prominence make synergy effects through each other by demonstrating their pure artistic creativity rather than commercial viability. They aimed to show the expressions and emotions of the dances with strong Mise-en-Scene, create music depending on the movements after getting creative inspirations rather than making on-demand OST, and complete a dance performance by making aesthetic costumes to emphasize the characteristics of the characters. In addition to that, there are 5 principal dancers of National Dance Company of Korea of Song Seol, Jo Yong-jin, Lee Seok-jun, Lee Jae-hwa and Park Hye-ji who will do the choreography made by Choi Jin-wook, which requires constant movements until the dancers are out of breath. Where will the end of the creative attempts by National Dance Company of Korea? Obviously, [Red (赤)] will be a performance that will show the possibility once again that such creative attempts of National Dance Company of Korea can be continued.

National Dance Company of Korea [Red (赤) - we all dance at the cliff]

Choreographer Choi Jin-wook of National Dance Company of Korea, Director Im Pil-seong of Film "Scarlet Innocence", Music Director Mowg of "Silenced" and Costume Designer Park Seung-gun of pushBOTTON. The Four Men’s Challenge to the Stage

It is worth paying attention to the combination of four men who gathered together to ambitiously describe human longing and desire. Choreographer Choi Jin-wook, director Im Pil-seong, music director Mowg, costume designer Park Seung-gun. The four enthusiastic men who are actively working in different areas including film and fashion have joined with each other only for this performance.

First, the principal dancer Choi Jin-wook of National Dance Company of Korea made the choreography. He is expected to be appreciated as a choreographer by striving to create choreography to show new possibilities and attraction of Korean classical dance through this performance. Moreover, film director Im Pil-seong challenges to direct the stage for the first time. Im Pil-seong, who is one of the few directors with individualities in the midst of floods of commercial movies, has contained human desire in his film every time. This time, by getting the motif from Andersen’s fairy tale "Red Shoes", he describes the reason that young girl Karen had to dance until her ankles were cut. He will put the emotion of desire, which is known as human instinct, into the performance by saying that “we all are like the dancers dancing on the brink, since we are in an indivisible relationship with the modern society and desire.” It is worth expecting how he, who dominates the screen with his unique beautiful images, will create the stage with another three-dimensional genre, dance. Music will be composed by a bassist and film music director Mowg. Mowg, who used to be a member of Nanjang Band with Kim Duk-soo, uses very modern instruments like synthesizer and bass but is expected to express human desire focusing on the beat rather than the melody. Creative director Park Seung-gun of a fashion brand pushBUTTON joined the team as a costume designer. The audience can enjoy "Red (赤)" in this summer, which will be remembered as the most thrilling and strong dance.
