Description
In June 2027, the Korea National Dance Company presents a new production created in its first collaboration with Hue Young-soon, a Germany-based choreographer who has carved out her own place on the international ballet stage. Hue began her career as a dancer, serving as a soloist and rehearsal director with Zürich Ballet and Basel Ballet in Switzerland, and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg in Germany. She was the first Asian dancer to take solo roles in the choreography of the celebrated Mats Ek and William Forsythe. Since 2001, she has created more than fifty works with over twenty of the world's foremost dance companies, and she currently works as a rehearsal director and international choreographer with Semperoper Dresden in Germany. This new production represents the culmination of a discussion first begun between the Korea National Dance Company and Hue in 2016, now realized more than a decade later. The performance promises a compelling and original stage, drawing together Hue's signature movement vocabulary—a physical language that flows freely between ballet, contemporary dance, and Korean dance—and the measured, resonant breath and graceful lines that have become the company's own hallmark, in a work at once powerful and refined.
