The National Drama Company was established in 1950 along with the National theater of Korea. As the only national drama organization in the country, it sustained the heritage of Korea's contemporary drama and nurtured the stage arts by producing outstanding actors in various genres.
Worldly Masterpiece Stage was started in 1986 with the aim of introducing foreign masterpieces to Korea through performances by outstanding teams and strong ensembles. The program has staged 20 performances including Hamlet, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, Uncle Vanya, and The Robbers. Also, starting in 2004, the Drama Company began to restore and produce past repertoires such as Thunderstorm, Life Attachment, Wildfire, Spray of Water, The Merchant of Venice, and The Wedding Day and plans to continue the Company's repertoire in regular performances.
The National Drama Company has long been conducting various exchanges with world-famous directors and artists.
Uniquely shaped from a fertile environment, old traditions, and a rich cultural heritage, the Company strives to contribute to the world's performing arts scene by creating innovative stage arts that keep pace with the times.
The 2006 National Brand Performance Cord will become the touchstone of our efforts and the experience from the performance will enrich the Company's future productions.
